Fall/Winter Small Groups
September - December
Most of our groups take a break for the summer, but we’re finalizing details for our groups starting this fall!
We invite you into this opportunity and hope you will consider one of these groups!
We have a variety of different small group offerings this semester. There is a group for everyone! We hope that you will spend time considering the different groups and choose one to attend. If you do not feel that a group is a good fit for you, feel free to sign up for another one. You can see all the information on the group leaders, when/where they are meeting, what they are studying and childcare options, below. And even if you didn’t start at the beginning with the group, you are welcome to jump in and join them at any point!

Wednesday Night Small Group
Bryan & Jana will be hosting and leading a small group for young adults and young families in their home on the Southside on Wednesday evenings. A meal will be provided. No childcare will be provided, but children are welcome to attend and be part of the group.

Wednesday Night Small Group
Geoffrey Waters will be leading a small group at the church bi-weekly on Wednesday evenings. The group typically shares a potluck-style meal together on the first Wednesday gathering of each month. Children are welcome!

“Men’s Breakfast” Small Group
Levi and a few other men from the church will be hosting a monthly men’s breakfast for a time of food, fellowship, and study. This year they are going through a book called Men on Fire, but you’re welcome to come anytime, even if you haven’t read the book. It will be an informal meeting that will allow for connections between all the men of Awaken. All men are welcome and childcare is not provided.

Ladies’ Evening Small Group
Heidi will be leading a ladies’ small group. This is open to ladies in all life stages. Childcare is not provided.

Plaster Small Group
Andy & Emily are a military family with three adorable kids who have made Alaska their home for the past few years. They are passionate about community and connection. Anyone is welcome to join this group full of young families! Dinner & childcare will be provided.

College/Young Adult Group
Levi & Anna love people well and love to have fun. They have three cute, energetic boys! This group is for young adults who are looking for community and guidance as they navigate life.

Ladies’ Morning Small Group
Joye Hernandez will be leading a “Sinking Deep” group, which is designed to help women slow down, engage with God’s Word through Biblical meditation, and grow deeper in relationship with God and one another. Gatherings are one hour, with no homework, and are open to women of all ages. Childcare is provided; we kindly ask that children remain in childcare during the study, unless they are infants. Childcare: $5/child or $10/family each week.

Study: A Heart for God

Alpha Course: Explore Life, Faith & Meaning
As interest grows, Pastor Levi will be leading a course called Alpha. This is an opportunity to discuss life’s big questions! Alpha is a series of sessions that explore the foundations of the Christian faith in an honest and non-judgmental environment. Sessions typically begin with food and connection, followed by a talk and open discussion. No matter who you are or what you believe, there’s a seat for you at the Alpha table!
